Happy "belated" New Year everyone! January was a bit of a catch up month from all the holiday shopping & shennanigans. However, we're back on track and all rested up to go again.

February is a big month for us here at SaskMade. We have the SABEX Awards on February 9th - which we are once again a finalist in the Customer Service category.
Coincidentally, February marks the beginning of our 6th year as the current SaskMade Marketplace, the one you've all grown to love. This is a big month of THANK YOU from all of us at Saskmade. We couldn't do it without you, our supportive customers, vendors, entrepreneurs and fellow Saskatchewanians.

Also, February 16th is Canada's Agriculture Day. Businesses & groups all across Canada will be participating in various events to celebrate food and it's producers. At SaskMade we will be having in-store specials, giveaways and of course - MORE samples! Follow us on our social media feeds for up to date information.

SaskMade e-News: June 2016

[Monthly Feature]

Join us this month for our first BBQ of the summer. On June 25th we are hosting aTaste of Saskatchewan featuring Blair's beef and Droolin' Devil hot sauces. While beef is a classic barbecue staple, don't forget we also have chicken and bison in our freezer for you to take home.

Not sure what direction to take while marinating your meat? SaskMade has stocked up on rubs, spices and sauces to help make it easier; Greek, Thai and teriyaki from Gordo's to name a few. There are also some amazing condiments like bacon ketchup. 

Don't let the BBQ blues seep in just yet. If you are looking to mix things up, SaskMade has you covered! We are a one stop shop for groceries and inspiration. 

 

[Recipe for our Taste of Saskatchewan BBQ]   

Saskatoon Berry Salad

1 cup dried Saskatoon berries
1 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup crushed pistachios
1 cup diced purple onion
1 container cherry tomatoes, halved
Large bowl of mixed greens

Use a light herb or sun dried tomato dressing. Toss in some crumbled feta to mix it up.

While we didn't win, we still had a great time celebrating our acheivement in getting this far. Maybe next year!

MAY = BBQ SEASON

Mother's Day is normally the beginning of BBQ season here in Saskatchewan... unless  you belong to that exclusively crazy group of people who BBQ all year round (of which I am one)!

SaskMade has expanded their protein offerings just in time for grilling season. We have added bison, fish and chicken to our freezer, on top of our already favourite Blair's Angus Beef burgers, smokies and steaks. Not to mention the seasoning, rub, sauce and cheese selection, which has also grown.

We will continue to bring in fresh herbs, greens and produce as the weather allows.

Lastly, keep an eye on your inbox for exclusive invitations to events being held at the store throughout the summer *hint - free burgers. You won't want to miss it. 

 

[Recipes from our last Taste of Saskatchewan] 
*in case you missed it! 

Quick Sour Cherry Salsa

700g Everyday Farms Frozen Tart Cherries
1/2 large red pepper, diced
1/2 large red onion, diced
4-5 cloves of garlic, diced
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
Salt to taste 

Thaw and drain the cherries, overnight if possible. Mix all ingredients together and let sit for 30 minutes. Best served on a crostini or cracker with a soft cheese, such as Brie.

You can also freeze any un-used salsa for next time!
