miss helene's black maple trout

Ingredients

  • 1-2 lbs Wildwest Steelhead Trout fillets (thawed)
  • 1/3 cup Miss Helene's Black Maple sauce
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tsp crushed garlic

Directions

Combine all ingredients, except trout, and mix well. Place trout into a leak-proof glass or plastic container. Pour marinade over trout and cover well. Marinate for at least 2 hours, turning after one hour.

To BAKE:

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet or 9x13" pan with parchment paper and place trout fillets on it. Reserve marinade. Bake un-covered in oven 15 minutes. If baking individual sized fillets, turn them over and drizzle approximately 1/3 cup of marinade over trout and continue baking for about 10-15 more minutes or until done. For one large fillet, do not bother turning is, just drizzle and continue to grill for the additional baking time. Dispose of remaining marinade.

To BBQ or GRILL:

Pre-heat BBQ/grill to 350 degrees F. Place trout on a cedar grilling board or wrap them in tin foil with about 1/4 cup of the marinade. Reserve remaining marinade. Grill approximately 10 minutes. If wrapped in tin foil, simply turn tin foil packet over and continue grilling 10-15 minutes or until done. If not wrapped in tin foil, and grilling individual sized fillets, turn them over and drizzle reserved marinade over each fillet and continue grilling for another 10-15 minutes or until done. To FRY:

Pre-heat a frying pan drizzled with 1 tsp oil to medium high heat. Place trout in pan. Reserve marinade. Fry trout approximately 3-4 minutes. Turn fillets over and drizzle with marinade. Cook additional 3-4 minutes or until done. Discard remaining marinade.
