Have you heard of Shishliki? This marinated meat is a traditional Saskatchewan dish that came to us via Russia. The preparation of the meat is meant as a way to preserve the meat longer, and in the process infuses an incredible amount of flavor into the finished dish. Shishliki is made by layering cubes of lamb with layers of onions, salt and pepper. The meat is then kept cool and stirred once per day for 4 days till itβs ready to freeze or cook. Itβs best prepared by cooking over open fire, or on the bbq over wood coals.
Weβre lucky enough to be working with our newest vendor- Red Barn Family Farm who has provided us with vacuum packed Shishliki all ready to grill, as well as some amazing lamb sausage! If you havenβt heard of Red Barn Family Farms you should check them out- a true family farm with each of their three kids assigned a brood, herd or rafter of their own to raise and care for! π©βπ¦βπ¦π¨βπ§ πππ¦π
